Position Overview:
We are seeking an Accessibility Document Remediation Specialist with specialized expertise in document accessibility standards, tools, and techniques. This term-limited position requires a detail-oriented professional who excels in using manual and automated methods to ensure compliance with accessibility criteria. Candidates must have strong technical skills, proven experience in document remediation, and the ability to adapt to evolving standards. This is an on-site position, and local candidates may be required to participate in an in-person interview.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize tools such as Adobe Acrobat, CommonLook, and similar software to remediate PDF documents, ensuring compliance with Section 508, WCAG, PDF/UA, and other applicable accessibility standards.
- Remediate accessibility issues in additional formats, including Microsoft Office documents and web pages.
- Employ assistive technologies like screen readers (e.g., JAWS, Narrator, NVDA) to validate equitable and functional user experiences.
- Address and resolve accessibility accommodation requests from external stakeholders.
- Track and report progress on document remediation tasks, maintaining accurate records.
- Stay updated on new or revised accessibility standards and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe software, with the ability to quickly learn new tools.
- Experience working with Adobe Acrobat for document remediation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of experience in document accessibility remediation, including auditing documents for compliance.
- Hands-on experience with CommonLook PDF, other document remediation tools, and assistive technologies such as screen readers.
- In-depth knowledge of accessibility standards, including Section 508, WCAG, and PDF/UA.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical issues independently.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in technical work.
